Risk Management and Insurance Scholarships

Administered by The Griffith Foundation

The Griffith Foundation promotes the study of risk management and insurance at colleges and universities, encouraging undergraduate and graduate students to take risk management and insurance courses by offering a limited number of scholarships.

Eligibility
Eligible applicants include risk management and insurance majors as well as actuarial science, business, and non-business majors who make a commitment to take a risk management and insurance course.

Some scholarships have institutional, geographic, or other special eligibility requirements and varying deadlines.

Scholarships for Students Attending The Ohio State University

Scholarships for Students Attending The Ohio State University are awarded in April and December of each year. There are currently five scholarship programs that the Foundation administers. Each scholarship program has its own requirements, with an overall focus on business or actuarial science students taking risk management and insurance courses.


Central Ohio Insurance Education Day Scholarships

The Central Ohio Insurance Education Day Scholarships are awarded annually in the spring to Ohio resident business college majors who are attending a college or university anywhere in the United States and who commit to take a risk management and insurance (RMI) course or are risk management and insurance (RMI) majors.


The Grand Lake CPCU Chapter Scholarship

The Grand Lake CPCU Chapter Scholarships are awarded annually to a sophomore or junior in an insurance program or an insurance-related field of study at any college or university in the United States. The recipient or the recipient's parent(s) or legal guardian(s) must be a resident of one of the following Ohio counties: Allen, Auglaize, Mercer, Paulding, Putnam, or Van Wert.


The Motorists Insurance Group Cameron E. Williams Memorial Scholarship

This $2,000 scholarship will be awarded in April, at the annual meeting of Motorists Mutual Insurance Company. The recipient must be a U.S. citizen and a full-time student attending a college or university anywhere in the United States. The recipient must be at least a sophomore and enrolled in an insurance, risk management, actuarial science or insurance-related program and have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or above. Individual circumstances and extracurricular activities will be considered. The recipient should be planning to enter an insurance-related field upon graduation. Preference will be given to children, stepchildren, or legally adopted children of The Motorist Insurance Group employees and agents. Individuals recommended by a Motorists employee or retiree will also be considered.


The Francis A. Herzog Scholarship

This $1,000 scholarship will be awarded at the annual meeting of the "Ohio Big I". The recipient must be a U.S. citizen either attending an Ohio college or university or an Ohio resident attending a college or university anywhere in the United States or. The recipient must be a full-time, junior or senior student enrolled in an insurance, risk management, actuarial science or insurance-related program and have a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or above. Individual circumstances and extracurricular activities will be considered. The recipient should be planning to enter an insurance-related field upon graduation. Preference will be given to children, stepchildren, or legally adopted children of Ohio Big I members. Individuals recommended by an Ohio Big I member or retiree will also be considered.


Lillian Lane Scholarship - The Insurance Women of Columbus Ohio

The Lillian Lane Scholarship is awarded annually each spring by the Insurance Women of Central Ohio to a student for the study of Risk Manangement and Insurance, Actuarial Science, or Business with insurance related content. Recipient should be a U.S. citizen pursuing an undergraduate degree at a central Ohio college or university pursuing a career in Risk Management, Insurance or Financial Planning.


The Columbus Ohio CPCU Chapter Scholarship

The Columbus Ohio CPCU Chapter Scholarship is awarded to a sophomore or higher in an insurance program or an insurance-related field of study with a GPA of 2.75 or better. The recipient must either reside within the Greater Central Ohio area or be attending a college or university within the State of Ohio.


The Central Ohio RIMS Chapter Scholarship

The Central Ohio RIMS Chapter Scholarship is awarded to any Ohio resident studying insurance, risk management or an insurance-related field with the intent of entering and insurance-related field upon graduation. Special consideration is given to Central Ohio residence or students.
